A Conner Prairie Proposal
Planning a surprise proposal always comes with a little excitement, but Jake and Lena’s proposal at the Conner Prairie Hot Air Balloon Festival was a perfect example of how flexibility can lead to something even better than the original plan.
Jake loved the idea of proposing with the hot air balloons rising behind them. Indiana weather, however, had other plans. With strong winds keeping the balloons grounded, we pivoted and found a beautiful hill overlooking a sunflower field nearby. It was tucked away from the crowds, peaceful, and honestly felt like it was meant to be!
I arrived early to get into position and wait, which is always one of my favorite parts of proposal days. Watching the anticipation build while everything is still a secret never gets old. As Jake and Lena walked up the hill, the moment unfolded so naturally, and when Jake asked the question, Lena’s reaction said it all. She was completely surprised, and of course, she said yes.
After the excitement settled, we took advantage of the gorgeous location and spent time together capturing a mini engagement session. The sunflowers, the open space, and that just-engaged energy made for such a fun and relaxed portrait time. Once we wrapped up photos, Jake and Lena headed back to the festival to celebrate and soak it all in!
This proposal was a perfect reminder that even when plans shift, the right moment always finds its way. Jake and Lena’s day was joyful, thoughtful, and uniquely theirs, and I’m so grateful I got to be part of it.
