Bethany & Mark’s Coxhall Gardens Proposal
There is something extra special about photographing a surprise proposal, and Bethany and Mark’s day at Coxhall Gardens in Carmel, Indiana was one I won’t forget anytime soon!
Mark put so much thought into every part of this moment. He worked closely with a talented jeweler to design the most stunning ring for Bethany, and it was clear how excited he was to finally see her reaction. I arrived early to tuck myself away and wait, which is always one of my favorite parts of proposal days. There’s this quiet anticipation while everything is still a secret, and getting to watch the excitement build is such a joy!
As Bethany and Mark walked into the gardens, you could feel the shift the moment she realized what was happening. That look of surprise, the happy disbelief, and then the biggest smiles as Mark asked the question. And of course, she said yes!
Once the nerves settled and the excitement really kicked in, we wandered around Coxhall Gardens together for portraits. This part is always so fun because the pressure is gone, and couples can just enjoy being engaged. Between the beautiful scenery, the fresh energy of the moment, and those just-engaged smiles, we created a full engagement gallery they can share and look back on for years to come.
Bethany and Mark’s proposal was joyful, thoughtful, and full of genuine emotion, which is exactly why I love photographing moments like this! Getting to be part of the very beginning of a couple’s story is such an honor, and I’m so grateful they trusted me to capture it all.
