Alternatives To Doing A First Look
Chances are if you’re reading this post you are firmly in the no First Look camp. You just know it’s not your thing and you want to stick to tradition. I totally applaud you for doing what means the most to you for YOUR wedding! 👏🏻
One benefit of a First Look I always share with couples is the dedicated alone time you’ll get to have with each other on your wedding day. You. Your partner. That’s it! (Well..except your photographer off to the side in the bushes. But you’re expecting that 😂 ). What if I told you we can ensure you get that alone time together without doing a First Look? “But Courtney…how?!” Well friend, here are a few alternatives you might not have thought of that are just as sweet!
1. First Look With Dad
Swap out your favorite guy with your other favorite guy and do a first look with your dad. WARNING: You WILL need to touch up your makeup after!
2. Do A First Touch
You’re still not seeing each other, but you do get time alone to talk. This can help get rid of your nerves while keeping things a surprise for coming down the aisle.
3. Write Each Other Letters
Another fun and personable way to share with your favorite person how excited you are about spending the rest of your lives together!
4. Read Your Vows To Each Other
Anxious about sharing the vows you wrote for each other in front of everybody? Have a private reading of those vows and save the more traditional ones for the ceremony.
5. Exchange Gifts
Exchange wedding day gifts while hidden from each other. That way you can hear each other’s happy reactions to those gifts!
6. Do A First Look With…
Your wedding party! They might have seen photos of your dress, but they haven’t seen you all done up in it ready to marry the love of your life!
There’s no right or wrong when it comes to planning your wedding day! Remember, you’ll hear get a LOT of advice during this time, but it’s okay to plan it in whatever way is most true to you guys as a couple!!
