Why You Should Have A First Look With Dad

I’ve made no secret about how much I love it when my couples do a first look. It’s the #1 thing I tell my husband, Jon, I would redo about our wedding day, so that we could have that time alone together before the ceremony. They naturally help the day run more smoothly and you end up with the chance to spend more time with your family and friends at your reception. Even though I have a soft spot in my heart for them, I know a lot of couples have the dream of going the more traditional route for their special day. And that’s what is most important, doing it the way you’ve always dreamed of! So today I want to talk about the other important first look for a wedding day…the father/daughter first look!

If you’re a daddy’s girl like me, taking the time to share a first look with him shows just how much he means to you. For a lot of dads out there, no matter how tough an exterior they may show, seeing you in your wedding dress for the first time makes everything feel real. It’s hitting them that even though they’re excited, their baby girl is getting MARRIED today! It doesn’t take much time at all to include this as you’re getting ready in the morning and you walk away with photographs of this precious moment together. I encourage anyone that wants to do a first look with dad to tell their photographer early. Plus let dad know you want to share that moment with him! That way he knows what to expect and shows up the morning of the wedding dressed and ready to see you!
