Six of the Biggest 2018 Wedding Dress Trends
It’s my favorite time of the year – a look at the most popular trends for next year’s wedding couples!! Besides the epic love stories I enjoy documenting, I love to study what brides and grooms find most popular and how it changes from year to year. It sure is different than when I was married back in 2011, pre-Pinterest.
Here’s a look at six of the biggest bridal gown trends from this year’s Bridal week:
3D FLORAL APPLIQUES: *sigh* aren’t these gowns covered in floral applique to die for?! From small buds to large flower petals, floral embroidery dominated this year’s runway.
CASCADING RUFFLES: This ultra-feminine design reminds me of a ballgown, only with a whimsical twist. Plus when it’s done in the blush or pink colors?? *SWOON*
BLACK: White and ivory are far past the only options for brides to choose from. Black made a bold statement at this year’s Bridal Week, from full-on black dresses to accents of black ribbon, lace, and hairpieces. Step aside little black dress, your stunning bridal gown cousin has stolen the show!
DARING SLIT: If you’re not afraid to show some leg, this style is for you! This daring look is sure to keep everyone’s eye on the bride all celebration long!!
PEARL DETAILS: This is definitely not grandma’s string of pearls. The intricate detail of these pearl encrusted gowns is truly stunning!
CAPES/COVERLETS: This style has been cropping up on the runway the last few years, but they have a strong presence in this year’s collections. From clean to ornate details, these modern coverlets are a perfect bridal accessory.
There you have it! Check back next week for a look at the biggest trends for bridesmaid dresses this year!
