The Moments I Don’t Want To Miss

I love capturing romantic, dreamy husband and wife portraits during a wedding like any other photographer out there. It brings me joy to see two people so in love with each other and challenges me to flex my creative muscles. But the wedding day can’t just be about those portraits! I’m there to capture the entire story, beginning to end. Reminding myself of that each wedding helps me to not be laser-focused on just portrait time, but looking up and seeing the little moments happening around me. It’s really helped me capture some of my favorite candid moments I know my couples cherish.

Here’s a look at three moments I try and capture at each wedding I photograph, they make for such good memories!!

1. Mom and Dad All Done Up

How often do your parents choose to get all glammed up to spend time together? Chances are it’s a rare occurrence! During getting ready in the morning or family formals in the evening, I try and capture a nice portrait of the two of them. It’s a sweet little surprise for them and chances are I’ll pull out a few of my posing prompts to get them some joyful, fun photos of their own! 😉

2. Grandparents Having A Good Time

I loooove seeing grandparents having a good time! Comes from all the years spent celebrating with my own grandpa, who never missed a chance to get out on the dance floor!! 🕺🏼

3. Those Unexpected Tender Moments

Dad pulling you in tight for a hug. Mom crying as she finishes getting you into your dress. You’re flower girl giggling as she works in her pretty dress. Your grandparents cuddling as they slow dance. Those secret looks the two of you share. I love capturing those special moments you might miss during the chaos of the day!
