Friends, I have a confession….I have never had to shoot in the rain before. Ever. I have been lucky enough to have sessions and weddings that when it was portrait time or we were outdoors, the rain did a vanishing act and was not a factor I had to make adjustments for……until Carla and Justin’s engagement session. The radar called for rain all week and after having rescheduling once, we decided to just go for it, rain and all. I sent Jon on a mission to Target for clear umbrellas and I read tips and tricks from so many wonderful photographers (shout out to my AJ and KJ education communities! – much love to you all!) that have shot in the rain before. What an amazing experience it turned out to be!

From the first message I received from Carla, I knew I was going to love working with her. She is so bright, bubbly, and clearly head-over-heels in love with Justin! They met while living in Virginia, Justin serving in the Navy and Carla working as a hair dresser. They had a chance meeting at a mutual friends house and felt that spark. The one where you lock eyes and know you’ve just met the person you’re meant to be with. And they’ve been inseparable ever since!

Carla and Justin, thank you for trusting me and spending time running around in the rain! The love you two have for each other just lights up a room and you are both so kind, genuine, and down-to-earth. I feel so lucky that I get to serve couples like you for a living. I am SO looking forward to spending time with you on your special day next year!!
