If you’re looking for a session location that’s fun, unique, and just a little nostalgic, Zaharakos in Columbus, Indiana is SUCH a good one!! And Sam and Jeff’s engagement session there was the perfect mix of playful, relaxed, and full of personality.

Zaharakos is one of those places that feels like you’ve stepped back in time the second you walk in. This historic ice cream parlor has been around since the early 1900s, and it still holds onto all of that old-fashioned charm. From the vintage soda fountain to the ornate details and classic tile floors, every corner has so much character, which made it such a fun backdrop for their photos!

ut what really made this session stand out was Sam and Jeff themselves. They leaned right into the vibe of the space and had so much fun with it. Whether they were sharing a milkshake, laughing together, or just wandering through the space, everything felt easy and natural.

That’s one of my favorite things about choosing a location like this for engagement photos. It gives you something to do, something to interact with, and it takes the pressure off feeling like you have to “perform” for the camera. Instead, you get to just hang out together, have fun, and let the moments happen.

What made this location even more special for these two is that ice cream has always been a part of their relationship. Getting to incorporate something so personal into their engagement photos made the whole session feel even more meaningful. It wasn’t just a fun location, it was something that already held a place in their story, which always makes photos like this hit a little differently.
