THE FUN & EXCITING THINGS THAT FILLED MY WEEK

Happy Friday, friends! What fun plans do you have for the weekend?!

If you’re new to Life With the Carneys, click HERE to read the first one before you get started! If you’ve already been wonderful enough to follow along for the Life with the Carneys series fun, welcome back!

Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to the last few weeks:

Having a sick family member is the worst feeling ever. Over the last six months, my Grandpa Dave was steadily getting worse due to his kidney disease, so we all made an impromptu trip to see him the weekend before Valentine’s Day. My sister Kristen even brought sweet baby Harris all the way from Texas to meet Grandpa for the first time. He called him Harry when he first saw him, so clearly, that’s his new nickname. It was also the first time my parents got to meet their newest grandbaby, so there were a lot of happy tears! It’s safe to say we’re all obsessed with him!! 😍

Our impromptu visit to Grandpa’s ended up being the weekend we planned to do Harper’s birthday party. She was rather bummed she wasn’t getting her Miraculous Ladybug party, but she was okay with it because she got to see Grammy, Grandpa, and all her cousins. Well, her Auntie Shelly was having none of that! While we hurriedly packed and got on the road, my sister-in-law Shelly ordered food and cake so that we could have a party at their house. Harper was so surprised and she told me it was the best day of her life!

I say it all the time, but I have the most amazing job ever. My sweet couple Jackie and Jonny wanted their engagement photos in Las Vegas, so they flew me and my bestie, Abbie, out there. I was so conflicted with all that was going on with Grandpa, but I was so glad I went and had such a fun experience with them!

After a long battle, my Grandpa Dave passed away at the end of February. I’m so so SO glad we took the extra time and went to see him every chance we could in his final weeks. I’ll miss him every day for the rest of my life. I take comfort though in knowing he’s where he was ready to be, dancing in the clouds with my Grandma. We spent so much time with family while we were there, it was another comfort that I don’t know I could have survived everything without it.

Besides all that happened with my Grandpa, my Dad was readmitted to the hospital for the blood disorder he has. He ended up with a fungal infection in one of his lungs, which was quite concerning. You hear they found a “mass” on his lung and it’s hard for your brain to not go instantly to it being cancer! I know he was bored out of his mind while they did all their tests, but after his team of 14 doctors (yes, FOURTEEN!) they FINALLY have a diagnosis for his blood disorder. Such a huge relief and now we can move on to a treatment plan! Mom and Dad stayed with us for a few days after he got out of the hospital, the kids loved getting them all to themselves. And Dad was such a good boy in the hospital, Mom surprised him with a new iPad! 😂
