“Do we really need to do an engagement session??” I get asked this question a whole lot when talking with couples planning their wedding photography. Some couples don’t know the important benefits that come with it when it first comes up, but are always grateful they ended up doing it!

I truly believe it’s one of the most important parts of your experience with your wedding photographer! Here are some of the reasons why you need to do an engagement session!!

1. It helps with nerves

I hear it more often than not, couples tell me they feel uncomfortable when they first get in front of the camera. 98.9% of the time that is because they simply don’t know what to expect. Am I going to know what to do? What if I don’t do it right??

Having an engagement session together means you’ll learn how I shoot and how I’m going to pose you. I’m not going to leave anything that comes with taking photos on you to figure out! I’ll be there to coach you through everything. That way you’ll know what’s coming and feel ready to have someone follow you around taking photos on your wedding day!

2. We get to know each other

Getting to spend time together with my couples for their engagement session is one of my favorite parts of our time together! I don’t ever want my couples to feel like I’m a stranger showing up to their wedding to take photos of them. That’s awkward!! 😂

An engagement session means there’s no wedding day pressure to worry about as we get used to working together for your photos. You’ll get to see how I work and you’ll realize just how much fun taking photos can be! I also get to see the two of you as a couple, how you interact and how I can guide you for what’s best for you. Which means we can all walk into your wedding day with nothing to worry about and just focus on having fun!
