Tips For Choosing Your Wedding Shoes

Your wedding day is meant to be the happiest, most carefree day of your life! The last thing you want to do is fake smile the day away because your feet are crying in pain. It’s the fashion trend no one wants to discuss…but no matter how you spin it, wearing heels for 8 hours on a wedding day HURTS. Finding beautiful shoes that match your dress is just the beginning, here are some of the best tips I’ve learned to make sure you have the best wedding shoes for you!

1. Comfort is #1 Priority

Comfort should be number one; they need to fit right. Being too tight will cause a lot of pain and being too loose will have them slipping off your heels. Which could lead to the dreaded “tripping as you walk down the aisle” situation that every bride has a nightmare about at least once. Remember, you’re going to be wearing these shoes from when you get into your dress in the morning until sometime late in the evening after you’ve been on the dance floor for hours. Make sure they’re padded and comfortable on your feet!

2. Extra, Extra!

Stick to the type of shoes you’re used to! Trying out a gorgeous pair of heels that your feet aren’t used to on your wedding day is not the way to go. You’ll be crying for sure! I love photographing gorgeous heels as much as any other photographer, but having to help bandage a bride’s feet to make it through the reception is not anyone’s idea of a good time! If you can’t imagine yourself not wearing heels, save them for the ceremony and bring yourself a cute pair of flats or sandals for the reception. I did this for my wedding day and it made a world of difference for my feet!

3. Have Fun With It

There are so many great options out there for wedding day shoes!! Whether you love more soft, classic styles or want to make more of a statement, go for the shoes that you feel the most YOU in. Not what you think you should have. After all, there are no rules and you’re the one wearing them!
