A look at my favorite spring fashion trends

Spring has sprung!! This time of the year is usually full of engagement, couples, and family sessions, so I thought I’d share with you all some of my favorite spring fashion trends to get you inspired! We all may be stuck close to home right now, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look fabulous for our walks around the block, amiright?!

FLATS

Spring time to me means packing up my beloved boots and swapping them out for my equally as loved flats! Jon can attest, I’m sure, to my slight addiction to buying every cute, cozy pair of flats I can get my hands on. I’m using the excuse now that every pair I buy is for wedding season, but I don’t think I’m really fooling anyone. Most recent purchase? A pair of black Rothy’s for wedding season!! (See, I’ve even told you the lie!) Seriously though, nothing say “TAKE MY MONEY” to me as much as a bright, beautiful pair of flats.

SPRING DRESSES

This one is for sure Harper’s favorite spring trend, as she’s all about wearing dresses right now! I always have the best luck finding cute spring designs at Old Navy and Target that work for both personal and when I’m shooting weddings. I tend to lean towards solid or floral prints, but there are also a lot of great flowy styles with ruffles and embellishments. It’s such a nice change from the heavy fall and winter clothes we’ve been buried in for the last several months!

SANDALS

Along the same lines as flats, there’s nothing better than packing away my winter shoes and swapping in cute sandals to take their place. Let those feet be freeeee!!! I’ve loved Old Navy’s flip flops for ever, but within the last year or so started adding in fun, dressier sandals to the mix. They’re an easy way to make any outfit a little dressier for a night out on the town!

WHITE JEANS

I am in no way brave enough to attempt to pull off white pants because well…toddlers. They’d be destroyed in all of 5 minutes! White jeans make a crisp statement and pair well with anything from neutrals to pastels to bright, bold colors.

LIGHTWEIGHT JACKETS

I could divide this category into several different styles all on its own, but I don’t want to fall too far down into the rabbit hole! Also, depending on your own personal style and where you live, you may find one style they prefer over another. Denim jackets, trench coats, utility jackets…the options are endless!! Lightweight jackets are the perfect accessory for those chilly spring days we definitely have here in the Midwest. They’re perfect for layering over both casual and dressier outfits.
