He walked to the microphone. Put his hands in his pockets. Grinned as the cheers and clapping calmed down. Then he began his toast. With gratitude. Gratitude that so many people that love his little girl and her husband had traveled to celebrate with them on this very special day. Gratitude that he was gaining a charming, humble man as a son. Gratitude for the sweet grandson they’d given him, always full of snuggles and smiles. Gratitude that the prayer her mother and he had prayed since she was born was fulfilled on this day; that she would find a loving, God-fearing man to support and cherish her for all the days of her life.
I love to observe people. One of my favorite pastimes is just going to a busy area, plopping down somewhere and just people watching. The interactions, the emotions; they’re all fascinating to me. Wedding days are no different, other than I’m lucky enough to be able to use my camera to capture all those moments. Those emotions. The love. And boy, Ellie and Garrett are surrounded by love. From the moment we arrived in the bridal suite, to their ceremony at St. Rose Catholic Church, to ending the night on the dance floor at The Phoenix Cincinnati, it was abundantly clear how much they are loved. Their bridal party, family, and friends took care of and prayed over these two in a way that still makes my heart sing.
Ellie and Garrett, thank you for trusting me to capturing your special day. I can’t begin to describe how much it means to me and I know Alison and I had the most amazing time with you, your family and friends!! Much love to you both!!!
