For today’s post, I want to highlight one of the vendors that I feel is often under-appreciated on wedding days – the professional makeup artist! You’re working within a budget to plan your perfect day and often times these artists are left out when things get tight. After all, we all survive doing our makeup each day, right? Well your wedding day isn’t any normal day! I believe you should plan on having a professional in charge of your appearance on the most documented day of your life!!

Here are my top 3 reasons I think hiring a professional makeup artist is a must:

1. Trial Run

Most makeup artists who offer bridal makeup will allow you a trial run of your look. (I recommend doing it on the day of your engagement session, so you see what it looks like in photos!) This will give you a good idea if you love it or some tweaks need to be made! And it’ll make getting ready go faster the morning of the wedding  because you already know what you want, it just needs to be put on!

2. They know what’s best for your skin

I’ve worked with a lot of professional makeup artists over the years, they’re truly masters of their craft! Being experts at what they do means they’re going to be able to show you what is going to look best on YOU. Because while you might love those makeup photos you pinned, they’re not a one size fits all. A professional will be able to figure out what you love about it and then give you alternatives that are going to look amazing for your skin tones!!

3. I can’t “fix it” later

I knooooow some people think this is a good remedy after the fact, but no amount of editing can truly fixed a shoddy makeup (or spray tan!) job in your wedding photos. Take the time to research and find a professional you love who will make you look perfect on your most important day!!
