The fun & exciting events that filled my week
Happy Monday, friends!

Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to this past week:
-Decorating for Christmas with two toddlers is exhausting. The endless questions. The excited chatter that can’t be contained, no matter how many times Mommy asks for a reprieve. The needing to touch every. single. thing. as it’s unboxed. The constant Mommy worry that they’re going to crush an ornament in their little hands and we’ll end up in the hospital. I was literally imagining they were going to go wild and someone was going to end up with an icicle ornament in their eye. Or an ornament hook through a finger. Seriously….what part of pregnancy causes that worry gene to be flipped? I’d like to go back and break that switch.
-Jon and I made it until Tuesday eating leftovers. Then we ran out of turkey so everything else went bye-bye. Which is REALLY good for me because I can’t stand reheating leftovers. The condensation that can build up on the containers and could potentially drip onto the food….*SHUDDER*
-We have been way behind on our traditions this year. Since moving in together, Jon and I have put our Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving and then cuddle up on the couch under some warm blankets with hot chocolate to watch Home Alone. This year it took us 3 days to get the Christmas decorations up. 3 DAYS! I place the blame firmly on those exhausting toddlers of ours. It takes a lot out of you, making sure they don’t maim themselves or each other! But I can happily say it’s done now and all four of us enjoyed sitting down to watch Home Alone. Or “Kevin,” as the kids like to call it. 🙂
-Toddler playgrounds are serious business. Harper was sitting on one of the ride-on toys at school, not a care in the world. Smiling, cackling, enjoying the sunshine and the breeze blowing through her hair. Then one of her friends walked up and pushed her right off. She went face first down into the mulch and got some road rash on her nose. To be honest, I think I was more surprised that Harper was the pushee not the pusher! She is still learning what it means to have “nice hands,” as we like to call it. She received some extra snuggles and kisses though from anyone she saw, so it is already a distant memory in her mind.
-Jon and I planned a weekend of relaxing at home in our pjs, watching movies and being generally lazy. Then I received an email that it was $8.95 candle day at Bath & Body Works on Saturday. Those plans flew right out the window! So instead of staying in our pjs, we made ourselves presentable, packed everyone in the car, and headed to the mall. They had so many new scents, I was in candle heaven! Thank you to Jon for spoiling me with so many new candles. And for putting pants on on your lazy Saturday 🙂
-What better way to spend a Sunday than at a family session with everyone in matching Star Wars Christmas pajamas?! I can’t wait to share more of this sweet session soon, visit here to see a sneak peek!
