On My Nightstand

Favorites

April 25, 2019

If you have spent any time perusing my website or scrolling through my social media, you know that I am an avid bookworm. I am a big fan of the romance and thriller genres, but having a thriving business means there are a lot of amazing business titles mixed in there too! There’s nothing more peaceful to me than curling up on the couch under a blanket, cup of coffee at my elbow, and a good book in my hands. OR taking that good book outside to lounge in the sun with a frozen margarita. Heck, I can’t think of a place I haven’t brought a book along in my bag/purse/pocket just in case I had the downtime to crack it open!

So you’re reading this and saying “Ok Courtney, we get it, you like to read…but why are you telling us this?!” I’m glad you asked, friend! This is my new series called On My Nightstand, where I’ll be sharing the titles I’m currently enjoying! And I’m always looking for new titles to cuddle up and read, so I’d love to know down in the comments what you’re enjoying right now too!! So let’s dive right into April’s list!!

Roberto Valenzuela “Picture Perfect Practice”

There is so much I love about doing photography and I always push myself to keep learning and growing. Picture Perfect Practice is an old favorite of mine that lives on and off on my nightstand. This is one of the first few titles I picked up to teach myself photography and now being able to understand the intricacies of photography means this is a much easier read than before. Because man the first couple times reading it was liking trying to understand Chinese! It’s a great way to challenge myself to see things differently!! If you love photography, I highly recommend!

Nora Roberts “Valley of Silence”

I doubt there will be one of these lists that Nora Roberts doesn’t make it on! I’m a huge lover of re-reading titles and hers often top my re-read pile. I’ll often be doing something that will remind me of a scene in a title and then I spend hours racking my brain to figure out what book it is. When I do, I dig it out and it’s an instant re-read. Valley of Silence is the third in one of my very favorite trilogies Nora has done, a fantasy-romance full of magic, dragons, vampires, and a battle that could bring about the end of the world. It’s superbly written and the characters are so complex and relatable, it’s easy to see why it’s one of my favorites!!

Seth Godin “Purple Cow”

I am always looking for ways to enhance my client experience and a friend recommended checking out Purple Cow by Seth Godin. It’s full of philosophies on how to stand out in a see of sameness and has challenged me in the way I think about my marketing, leadership, and my natural resistance to change. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and am excited to pick up another title by him, Tribes!!

So there’s a look at what is currently on my nightstand!! Tell me, friend, what titles are YOU loving right now??

Much love friends,
